In cases where high pressure cleaning does not work to remove the roots, additional tools may be required to expedite the process. Lumberjack cutters are designed to go on the end of a jetter hose. The blades on this tool will circle the pipe cutting out large and heavy roots. In rare circumstances, a schalwm cutting tool may be required if the roots are too thick or if it’s a piece of pipe protruding on the inside. Usually we only need to use the schwalm cutting tool in areas where we have ductile iron protruding laterals.
If you are deeply concerned about the amount of roots in your line section, the next step would be to Root Foam the line section. We will perform the root foaming and then cut the dead roots out approximately 1-3 months later. Root foaming is useful in areas of high-density trees. We can typically perform up to 2,000 LF of Root foaming a day.
