Dewey Beach, DE, takes pride in being recognized with Rehoboth as the country’s top beaches for swimming water quality. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) invests a great deal of time and resources to maintain the cleanest water quality in the nation. Standard Pipe Services was entrusted with the task when this coastal town’s infrastructure committee required over $600,000 in pipe relining and reconstruction.
Project: Pipe Relining, Reconstruction & Rebuild
Pipes throughout McKinley & Bayard Avenues from the highway to the bay were entirely blocked with debris which needed to be cleaned out before they could be reasonably assessed. During cleaning, it was discovered that pipe integrity was compromised and started to collapse. Therefore, it is crucial that pipes are inspected quarterly and cleaned semi-annually to prevent this condition. In light of these conversations, Standard Pipe Services (SPS) was retained for a second job along Read and Bayard Avenues.
Our Approach
Project 1
Standard Pipe Services relined multiple sewer line sections using Mtube liner with AOC Resin. The project was timed with low tidal conditions. SPS performed:
Pipe Cleaning
Televising
Plugging
Bypass groundwater control
Dewatering (as needed); and
Rebuilt catch basin
Mobilization & Traffic Control
The project encompassed the Coastal Highway, Bayard Avenue, and McKinley Avenue.
Project 2
Standard Pipe Services contracted to reline multiple storm sewer line sections on Read and Bayard Avenues utilizing Mtube liner with AOC Resin. SPS anticipated a challenge and heavy cleaning in a particular area on Read Avenue.
Pipe Cleaning
Televising
Plugging
Bypass groundwater control
Dewatering (as needed)
Nearly the entire stormwater drainage system required relining, repair, or replacement. Several feet of pipe was unable to be inspected until debris was removed. Some pipes had succumbed to infiltration. Standard Pipe Services was able to mediate, resolve, and restore a functioning infrastructure to Dewey Beach’s high water quality standards.
