Point repairs consist of basically two methods, both of which require first identifying the problem areas of the pipe. The conventional method is to perform a point repair excavation by replacing the bad section of pipe. The other is to use a trenchless method and insert a Cured In Place (CIPP) patch that spans one foot past the damaged section of pipe. The CIPP option has become the most cost-effective and efficient method across the Country. Trenchless repair methods can be performed in as little as 2 hours in most cases and typically requires no by-pass pumping.
Benefits
- Structural repair of pipe without excavating
- Meets ASTM requirements & standards
- Corrosion resistance
- No excavation required
- No by-pass pumping required
- Eliminates infiltration & root intrusion
The cost to perform a Point Repair is modest; however, multiple CIPP repairs in one line section may begin to outweigh that of full length relining. A good basepoint we use in the industry once 4 CIPP Repairs are required we may recommend the line section for Full-Length Lining. Our staff can usually determine this at the early stage of the pre-video inspection.
We install Short CIPP Repairs in:
- 4″ to 48″ pipe diameters
- Restore crown failure
- Repair cracked pipes
- Offset and open joint repairs
- Bridging of missing pipe
Spot repairs are installed using an ambient curing resin that will cure over a period of time. The mix design from the resin will dictate the time required for the repair to be performed. Each project is unique and will dictate our curing methods. Short Point Repairs can be installed in emergency situations and as long as required to fully cover the damaged area.
